Well I am currently locked down in my cell in Oklahoma City. The lockdown officially started yesterday at around 1pm. We were locked in our cells until noon today, July 6th. They are going to let us out to shower, use phone, and use computer today and tomorrow from 12pm-3pm. Hopefully this ends Monday. Their excuse is there was a fight in another unit and only one elevator is working so they can’t respond to emergencies timely so they have to lock us down in our cells. So much for our “special privileged camper unit”. What is hilarious is when you think about the guards responding to an emergency and needing an elevator is that wouldn’t you think the fastest route would be to hit the elevator button and if the elevator didn’t immediately open you hum it up the stairs? That is what I would think. I had a good laugh picturing a bunch of officers on one floor waiting for the elevator to come while there was a prison riot two floors above them. Why wouldn’t you just sprint up the stairs?

Lockdowns have become all to common place in prisons including my last spot Yazoo Low II. I didn’t blog at all while I was at Yazoo because it was too depressing sometimes. Yazoo Low II used to be a medium security FCI so it had cells with doors that locked. Because of this the staff used the cells as weapons against the inmates, and any little thing that happened on the prison yard even if it had nothing to do with your unit would likely result in a lockdown. It essentially becomes a method the staff use to be lazy and not do their job.

I have to sign off because there is a line for the computer. Please ignore any spelling or grammar errors as I typed this very fast.
