Monday June 24, 2024 – Another Day in OKC

Pretty uneventful day. On actual prison compounds the administrative staff of the prison is typically present during main line at lunch and available to the general inmate population. In OKC the administrative staff makes themselves available once a week typically. These last two weeks it has both been on Monday. The Warden, Associate Warden(s), Captains, Health Services, Chaplain, Unit Team, Facilities, Trust Fund, etc. go from unit to unit in OKC and walk through making themselves available. The most popular guy here that everyone wants to talk to is the Unit Manager because he knows what prisons have flights and buses leaving each week and which don’t. So needless to say that guy was swarmed when they came in today, and he told some people for example the people going to FPC Yankton, SD that there is no transport to Yankton this week. On the other hand for those of us going to Alabama (Montgomery or Talladega) he confirmed we have to go through Atlanta 100% and that it typically takes 2-3 weeks to leave OKC. He said they go to Atlanta every week so there is a chance I could leave this week. We got some new people in the dorm about 8-10 and we have 2 leaving in the morning. The other popular person was the Trust Fund Supervisor because everyone wanted to complain to him about how much static the four phones have and how two of them routinely cut in and out. He proceeded to tell us that they knew about the problem, had referred it to Facilities, it was a problem with the lines, and that it was not a priority for Facilities. Basically, he said we are screwed and the phones won’t get fixed anytime soon so we are basically hit for the rest of my time here. Anyhow, that’s where things are I will be back with another update in the near future.
